MEET DR. ANDREWSThe Brow Lift Procedure
At the start of a surgical brow lift, anesthesia will be administered to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure. It can sometimes be performed with local anesthesia, especially for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. Once that sets in, Dr. Andrews will make small incisions to start the procedure. The incisions are made along the hairline so that an endoscope with a camera on the end can be inserted under the skin. This allows Dr. Andrews to see what’s going on as he adjusts the tissues and muscles and corrects any wrinkles or excess skin. Once he’s finished, Dr. Andrews will close the incisions using sutures and skin adhesives.
Recovery
As you recover, your head may be loosely wrapped with a bandage to minimize swelling and bruising. Dr. Andrews will provide specific instructions on how to properly care for your incisions, what medication to take, and when to schedule a follow-up appointment. You will be able to go home the same day, but you will need a friend or family member to drive you home.
Once at home, you’ll want to keep your head elevated and avoid any strenuous activities. You’ll also want to limit alcohol consumption, take anti-inflammatory medication, and use cold compresses to reduce swelling.
You will be able to remove your bandages in one to three days. If dissolvable stitches are used, you don’t need to worry about getting them removed, but if they aren’t dissolvable, we usually remove them seven to ten days after the procedure.
You will likely see some results immediately, but the full brow lift results will become visible once the swelling diminishes completely. Patients will enjoy a more youthful appearance that lasts for many years. Resulting scars are minimal and can often be easily concealed in the hairline.
