The thighs can be one of the areas people struggle with the most. But that doesn’t have to be the case. By removing excess skin and fat, a thigh lift can have you loving the look of your thighs. Dr. Andrews will build a customized treatment plan for you and provide you with the beautiful results you’re looking for.
What is a Thigh Lift?
Thigh lift surgery (also known as thighplasty) is a cosmetic procedure used to reshape the thighs by removing excess skin and fat, leaving you with smoother and more proportional thighs and lower body. If diet and exercise have not given you the results you’re looking for, a thigh lift can be an effective solution.
But beyond the aesthetic reasons for a thigh lift, it can also relieve pain or skin irritation caused by the thighs rubbing together.
Who is a Good Candidate For A Thigh Lift?
Many people are good candidates for a thigh lift, especially if they meet the following specifications:
- Weight is relatively stable
- Have excess soft tissue along the inner or outer thighs
- In generally good health and don’t have medical conditions that could impair the healing process
- Nonsmokers
- Have a positive outlook
- Have realistic expectations
- Are committed to a healthy lifestyle
During your consultation, Dr. Andrews will evaluate you to see if you are a good candidate for the thigh lift procedure.

“The Thigh Lift Procedure
At Dr. Andrews Plastic Surgery, your thigh lift will begin with the administration of anesthesia. Dr. Andrews will discuss your anesthesia options during your consultation.
Next, Dr. Andrews will either make an inner thigh lift incision or an outer thigh lift incision. It depends on the results you’re looking for.
The inner thigh lift incision starts at the groin and extends downward and around the back of the thigh. The outer thigh lift incision starts at the groin and extends around the hip and across the back.
There is also the option for another incision technique where an incision is made along the inseam of the thigh or a minimal incision that is only made in the groin area.
Once the incisions are made, excess skin and fat are removed from the thigh area. Dr. Andrews will also reposition tissues and tighten the appropriate muscles. Deep sutures are then used to form and support the new contours. Additional sutures are used to close the incisions, and you are sent to the recovery room to start the healing process.
Recovery
As you begin your recovery, bandages and dressings will be applied to your incisions. Drains may also be placed under the skin to ensure excess fluid can be drained out. You will also be given a compression garment to help reduce swelling.
You will be able to leave on the day of surgery, but you will need a friend or family member to drive you home.
Dr. Andrews will give you specific instructions on how to care for your incisions, what medications to take, and when your follow-up appointments will be. You will want to avoid moving around a lot or participating in strenuous physical activities.
Your thighs are likely to be sore, and you will have some swelling and bruising for at least the first week after surgery. You’ll want to get plenty of rest. Dr. Andrews will let you know when you can return to work and when you can start to get back to your normal routine.
You will see some results immediately, but noticeable improvements won’t show up until the swelling completely diminishes. It may take several months.
