The SkinPen Microneedling
The SkinPen microneedling treatment often begins with the cleansing of the skin and administration of a topical anesthetic to the treatment area. From there, the SkinPen device is applied to the skin. The microneedles pierce the skin, stimulating collagen production and starting up the body’s natural wound-healing abilities. As an outpatient procedure, you will be able to go home right after treatment.
The whole treatment typically takes between 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area or the number of treatment areas. You will likely need more than one treatment session to achieve optimal results.
Recovery
After the SkinPen microneedling treatment, you will likely notice some redness, swelling, or inflammation, but these should subside within 24-72 hours after treatment.
You can return to your normal routine immediately, but you’ll want to avoid hot water, makeup, and harsh cleansers for the first 24 hours. You’ll also want to wait to exfoliate your skin until at least a week after treatment.
Results typically take up to six months after your final treatment session to fully appear.
